“Light can only exist in relation to shadow.”

This work is born from a gesture of transformation. It began as a different painting, an exercise that, having served its purpose, was covered over to make room for something new.

In that process of starting over, the work was built up in layers, exploring a technique that gradually stopped being foreign and became a language of its own. The circular forms repeat, overlap and shift, creating a sense of constant flow, of something that never stops.

At first, the search centered on light: on brightness, on pale tones, on what stands out at first glance. Yet it was in the addition of shadows that the work found its true strength. They are what hold the composition up, what give it depth and allow the light to emerge.

Between light and dark, the painting proposes a reflection on the balance between the two. Not as opposites, but as necessary elements that coexist and define each other.

En movimiento speaks, then, of transformation: of letting go of one form so another can appear, and of recognizing that, in art as in life, light can only exist in relation to shadow.
