About the Artist

Inés Hernández

Exploration, Transition & Connection

Inés Hernández is a contemporary artist whose life has unfolded across borders, cultures and geographies. Having lived in seven countries and travelled through more than 45, her path is marked by mobility and by encounters with different places and ways of inhabiting the world.

A self-taught artist, she began exploring painting in 2023 through watercolour and evolved towards acrylic and studio training, progressively developing a language of her own. Her practice combines landscape, figuration and experimentation, with particular attention to colour, contrast and the layering of surfaces. Her connection with the sea — present in her story since childhood and linked to her Caribbean roots and Canarian family — is an important part of her relationship with landscape and the world around her.

In her work she explores the beauty of places and the processes that run through the human experience of inhabiting them: memory, transition, movement, grief, vulnerability and transformation, as well as joy, vitality and the enjoyment of life. Through painting, she investigates what cannot always be expressed in words and opens a space for each person to find their own emotions, memories and interpretations.

“I paint to give form to what cannot always be named in words. My work is an invitation to recognise our own inner landscapes, embrace our processes and find beauty in the movement of life.”

Artist Manifesto

“My painting is an exploration of transitions and the emotional geography of being human. Through landscape, colour and experimentation, I explore how the places we inhabit and the experiences we live transform us. My work moves between the visible and what remains within us, giving form to emotions, memories and experiences that cannot always be expressed in words.”
